Reflection Chapter 4

Task Analysis

The one thing I find most annoying about this book is its continual reference to chapters later in the book. It's like I'm getting incomplete information or it's a secret they will tell later.

This is the part of the ID process that is most like writing an IEP. In order to write goals it is necessary to break the general goal down to more manageable objectives.

Looking at the layout for task analysis I feel more comfortable with an outline. The flow chart doesn't organize as well for me. I expect to use Inspiration for this part of the project. It has the flexibility to alternate between both forms. Maybe I will find as I work with a flow chart that I will become more comfortable using one.

Reading through the task analysis of making a peanut butter and jelly sandwich made me question if I will be able to break the task down to the smallest step. There were steps I had not thought of in their analysis. I think it truly requires more than one person to break down a task. I plan to get my daughter and her friend to help me break down the tasks for my project because they did the same thing this summer. I like how in the section about being your own SME it suggests that first you do the analysis and then have someone else walk through the task while verbally describing what they are doing. I think the most intimidating part of this will be finding all the steps.
