Reading chapter 6 of Designing Effective Instruction helped me in sequencing my task analysis. I realize it was directed towards strategies for instruction but as I was writing my task analysis my mind was already thinking ahead to strategies.
I wrote my task analysis based upon simulations that will occur in the classroom. Chapter 7 showed me that my strategies were right on target. I hope it was done the right way. Realistically I could see no way to evaluate a real life situation so I chose to write tasks based on simulations.
I really like chapter 7 and how it lays out prescriptions for different types of objectives. Some of it confirms my thoughts, such as the interpersonal skills strategies. I had planned to incorporate some of the strategies. Thanks to this chapter I have other strategies I had not thought about. So much of the time teachers go into classrooms without throughly considering the available strategies. I hope that after reading this chapter that I will be less inclined to go in without considering all available options.
