Meet Cheryl
I have a Bachelors's in Deaf Education from the University of Tennessee. I taught deaf and multi-handicapped deaf for six years before taking time off to be a stay at home mom. I initially returned to work as a substitute teacher for the Bucks County Intermediate Unit #22. For the past six years I have worked as an interpreter in the mainstream in all grades. During this time my interest in computers has grown. I initially used the computer as a communication tool to get in contact with other parents who have children with Angelman Syndrome (AS). Then I took a workshop on writing HTML and with the help of my daughter put up a web site directed towards the siblings of children with Angelman Syndrome. We named it Angeland because the children with AS are called angels despite their devilish personalities. Angeland can still be found at www.angeland.org This past year I have been involved in helping a junior high special education class find software that could be loaded from a floppy onto an antiquated machine. My goal enrolling in this program is to integrate what I learn here with my deaf education degree and use my knowledge to help hearing impaired students reach their fullest potential. |
